You can even get singles made up!
I just saw on IG that my cousin bought an FJC for his gettaway home vehicle and that its equipped with 3 rows. I had no idea such a thing was even possible! It turns out you can get a 3rd row made up for lots of cars. It reminds me of my uncle’s Isuzu Trooper with a 3rd row for his 7 person family. Man, that was a tight squeeze and they eventually gave up and bought a suburban. 8 people in an FJC is too many.

They look like jump seats. The 4Runner has those as an option, but my dad turned them down because they’re utterly useless. If you need an SUV that can seat seven, get a Yukon or something.

These are 3rd party, but they bolt in semi-permanent. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to do it, but for him it makes a little sense; he leaves the car down there as a “Jeep” to go exploring around with the family, and he flies in.

Wait, needs seven seats to go exploring? Sounds like someone’s in need of a certain bodacious Toyota!

He has a family of 6 and already owns many cars, but a cruiser or even a 4runner with the 3rd row would have made a lot more sense.

I’m one of those guys that bought a 4Runner with the 3rd row. It was a relatively cheap option (I think it was $500 extra?) and they don’t take up all that much storage space when they’re folded. I rarely use them, but they’re nice to have in a crunch when you’re just going down the road or out to lunch.

this would fit 3 rows no problem

I desperately wish that was a thing.

Is that legal? With seatbelts and all that?

I think so, so long as the seatbelts are in spec and they are bolted to the body in a way that is in compliance.

Hmm, I wouldn’t put a young kid in that third row seat in the second picture. Doesn’t look very safe in an accident.

yeah, me either. I don’t like that one at all...but its there.

That’s true, good emergency seat. Sure beats sliding around in the cargo area with no seat.

Three rows, three wipers. Makes sense.

They aren’t that big though

the irony is that in Utah the law is written such that all seat MUST be filled with people, but beyond that its perfectly legal to NOT be in a seatbelt so long as they are all full and they aren’t children. In this situation a 6th person in a regular fjc would be legal in the back, but they would be required to sit in this seat if it was there.

i know! Im amazed people sleep in them

Huh, but does it specify how many people can occupy each seat?
![]() 12/29/2016 at 14:57 |

the law says that each seatbelt must be occupied by a person up to the limit of belts, beyond that its fair game.
